Routines are something that suit some people more than others, but if there is one routine you should try to get yourself into on a daily basis, it is a quick walk first thing each morning.

Kick Start Your Metabolism & Burn Fat

Getting your heart pumping and your body moving before you even have breakfast is a fantastic way to jumpstart your metabolism and get your body going. By going for a brisk walk, even if it is just around the block, you are starting to burn off any energy stores that may have been left over from the night before, and are preparing your body for your day ahead.

Endorphins Energise And Relax

Endorphins are our bodies naturally occurring ‘happy drug’, produced in the central nervous system and pituitary glands. The production is stimulated when we are active and ironically, having endorphins pumping through your body actually helps to energise you even more, making you feel clear, enthusiastic and alert. So even if you are feeling a little sluggish and tired in the morning, drag yourself up and out of the house anyway and go for a quick walk!

Starting Your Day On A Good Foot

You have probably heard the expression getting out of the wrong side of the bed, because what happens in the morning can really impact on your emotional and energetic state for the rest of the day. So start your day on a good foot… or both feet, and walk to wake yourself up ready for the day ahead.

Get Some Exercise In Before Something Comes Up

Having good intentions is great, and often when you plan to do a workout you manage to get it done, however sometimes things come up, or other activities go overtime, or you become distracted and just never get it done. Going for a walk first thing in the morning means that even if you don’t always make your other exercise plans, you have at least got your body out of your seat and moving!

We all know how good we feel after having done a workout, it’s as though we can check something off our daily list of good deeds and healthy actions. A morning walk is no exception and you get to feel good all day long knowing you woke up and went for your walk first thing.

Get Out And About

You have been inside all night, chances are you will be inside for a large part of the day to come, so why not take advantage of the morning time and get out and about on foot, first thing. This doesn’t mean you have to be walking for hours, not everyone has such pleasures as excessive amounts of free time, however even a quick 15 minutes walk will do you wonders!

Enjoy The Fresh Air

It doesn’t matter if the air near where you live is fresh (as in country air fresh) or not, the morning time is a great time to be out and about and enjoying the world. It is a peaceful and calm part of the day that holds so much potential. You get to see how the weather is looking, look at all the early birds up and about doing their thing and you get some time to just…Breath. Whether you like to walk with your partner, kids, friends or alone, there is something special about just walking for the sake of walking first thing in the morning.
